FB-FirePAC® Overview
Manufactured by Rockwell Automation, the ControlLogix® platform of Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC) represents a ubiquitous standard in industrial automation that is used across a wide swath of industries and processes. FireBus working in partnership with Rockwell through technology licensing has developed a series of enabling technologies that compliment the standard PAC product line and used together provide an ANSI / UL-864 combination system for Fire & Gas System applications.
The FireBus 1756-FPI-1002 Fire Protection Interface module plugs into a standard 1756 based system and brings analog addressable smoke detection to the PAC while the FB-7254-ITP-48AM provides 48 zones of annunciation.
These FireBus products seamlessly interface to the PAC utilizing the standard RSLogix programming environment and a combination of Add On Profile (AOP) and Add On Instruction (AOI) software elements.
Architecture
The FireBus 1756-FPI-1002 Fire Protection Interface (FPI) module resides in the ControlLogix chassis and communicates to the programmable controller directly over the backplane. Connected by a redundant pair of cables with RJ-45 style connections is it's companion board, the 7254-MTP-1002 Main Termination Panel (MTP) which mounts nearby on a DIN rail and provides mechanical termination points for other components of the system.
Together the FPI & MTP give the ControlLogix programmable controller access to a pair of addressable "2-wire" smoke detection loops which can be configured, monitored and controlled directly by the ControlLogix programmable controller.
